Ruby, nuestra voluntaria de Nueva Zelanda, y sus ayudantes Alberto y Julia, nos explican en detalle cómo hacer un estupendo bizcocho. No hay nada mejor en una tarde de frío invierno que un buen vaso de leche caliente y un bizcocho para merendar.

CRA TÁBARA (ZAMORA)

El pasado noviembre, varios centros de la zona nos juntamos para celebrar la Semana de la Ciencia. La idea era promover los proyectos científicos y hacer que los alumnos se familiarizaran y apreciaran la ciencia, la tecnología y la innovación.

 

Este año hemos tenido la suerte de poder contar con la ayuda de nuestra voluntaria de Nueva Zelanda, Ruby Rogers, quien presentó la cultura, flora y fauna más significativa de su país. Gracias a su presentación, los alumnos pudieron compararlo con la cultura castellana y la biodiversidad de nuestra región.

 

La experiencia con Ruby está siendo fantástica. Los alumnos no solo practican inglés, sino que están aprendiendo mucho de la cultura neozelandesa. Hemos hecho un POI siguiendo sus instrucciones, leemos relatos neozelandeses, hemos simulado un viaje a Nueva Zelanda y qué cosas debemos meter en la maleta (teniendo en cuenta que las estaciones no coinciden con España), etc. Incluso han venido alumnos de otros centros para conocerla.

 

Last November, some schools gathered to celebrate the Science Week. The idea was to boost Scientific projects and and increase students' understanding and appreciation of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

 

This year, we were very lucky because we could count on our volunteer, Ruby Rogers, to present the culture, and most significant flora and fauna of her homecountry, New Zealand, so that we could compare it to our region's culture and biodiversity.

 

The experience with Ruby is wonderful. Students not only improve and practice their English, but they are also learning a lot about New Zealand’s culture. For example, we made a POI in class following her instructions, we have read New Zealand’s stories (Kuwi’s First Egg), we simulated traveling to New Zealand and  had to discuss which items to pack  (taking into account that Seasons are reversed) etc. We even welcome students from other schools who traveled all the way to our center to meet Ruby.
